One of the great joys of staying in Ban Suriya is the dedicated, highly trained staff. This friendly team ensures that guests have everything they want, and never have to lift a finger. Thais have a worldwide reputation for their welcoming character and attentive service. But the level of staff presence is entirely up to you. Would you prefer staff to be around at mealtimes only? Or would you like them to be on hand to serve cold drinks and snacks throughout the day? Just let your villa manager know how much attention you are comfortable with.
- Villa manager
Ban Suriya’s villa manager, Tik, is your main point of contact with staff. Her job is to oversee and coordinate the staff and property and to assist you during your stay.
The villa’s chef excels in the preparation of Thai, Asian and Western favourites. He will suggest dishes from the villa’s wide menu, or can prepare special dishes on request, also taking care of health and dietary requirements. He is also happy to give cookery lessons.
Ban Suriya’s housekeepers keep the villa spotless and tidy. They also help in the kitchen and with serving meals and drinks. One of them is also popular with families as a nanny.
The villa has two gardeners to look after the lush garden and the pool.
Guests’ safety is assured by security staff working from 7pm to 6am.
Ban Suriya’s chef is on hand throughout your stay to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner. The villa has an extensive menu of home-cooked dishes to choose from, ranging from Thai and other Asia cuisines to Western favourites, as well as children’s specials and vegetarian choices. Or, off-menu, the chef is always happy to cook up special requests.Fish is bought from local fishermen who land their catches on the beach nearby, so it’s always super-fresh. And do please try the villa’s signature Thai dish, Gai Yang Kamin – grilled turmeric-marinaded chicken with a spicy dipping sauce. It’s heavenly. Daily breakfast is included in the villa rate. Drinks, along with groceries for the other meals, are charged at market price (plus a 15% handling fee which is subject to service and tax at the prevailing rate) and guests are politely requested to provide the chef with grocery money in advance. Staff will do the shopping and provide receipts for reference. To ensure this can be done in a timely manner, we advise you to plan your meals the evening before.
Villa holidays are family-friendly, especially so for those with small children, and Ban Suriya, with its predominantly ground-floor layout, wide lawned gardens and beautiful beach with warm shallow sea – is a safe, happy, relaxing environment for kids and their parents.
The friendly staff are terrific with children and are often able to help entertain the kids during the day to give mums and dads a little break. Full-time babysitting can also be arranged through your villa manager (extra charges apply). Between the beach, pool and games room there’s plenty to keep children busy all day.
No need to use up your luggage allowance on kids’ equipment either. Ban Suriya has toys, cots, high chairs, baby baths, bottle sterilisers and baby monitors, as well as plates and cutlery for small people. Other equipment can be hired. Just let us know what you need when you make your reservation and we’ll take care of it.
And if the excitement of playing in the villa or building sandcastles on the beach ever shows any sign of wearing off, check out our Things To Do page. There are plenty of sea- and land-based activities on Koh Samui to keep all the family amused.
What would a luxury holiday be without some serious spa time? Ban Suriya has a well-equipped spa room and a full menu of spa treatments administered by experts. Or you can choose to be treated alfresco, in the Tree House next to the beach, or in the privacy of your room. Here’s what’s on the menu:
Thai massage is a widely recognised and admired art that sees the masseuse twisting and bending body, head and limbs in ways that might at first seem impossible. Follow this with a herbal hot compress treatment, all of which will leave you as relaxed as a strand of al-dente spaghetti.
Or you can opt for a head and shoulders massage, or a reflexology foot massage. More exotic, our therapists can administer aromatic oil, aloe vera or guasa massages.
Feeling a bit rough around the edges? Get your feet peeled and scrubbed. Have a body scrub or a facial treatment. Get your legs waxed, or go wild with a Brazilian or Hollywood waxing.
And finally, nails. Spoil your hands and feet with a mani-pedi, polished off with acrylic or gel nails.
Be warned. Your family may not recognise the shiny new you.
Keep in shape by following your usual fitness regime in the garden, on the beach (which is also great for jogging or brisk walk), or in the well-equipped gym. Or ask your villa manager to organise a session with our fitness trainer. He can lead hour-long personal training, yoga or Pilates sessions for as many people as you like.
You can also take lessons in Muay Thai – Thailand’s renowned martial art. In this case classes are limited to three people.
